Warranty and Repair policies-

CRACKS- Yes, concrete does crack and we don’t like it either but it’s bound to happen, this is why we install control joints where concrete is most likely to crack. If the concrete cracks in the control joint this is exactly what we hoped for. Typically, concrete cracks very soon after its poured, often same day, so we do everything to control cracking. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee the concrete will not crack. Cracks 1/4 inch or less in height difference or gap is normal according to the concrete industry. SD will replace entire concrete section cracked if crack is bigger than 30% of the area. Industry’s standards before repair or replacement is 1/4” We warranty repair for cracks larger than 1/4” of one inch or greater if separation or height is 1/4 of one inch difference.

SURFACE- A common misconception is the assumption that your driveway, porch, patio or sidewalk(s) surface will last and hold up like your kitchen floor. Unfortunately, this is not true. Exterior concrete in Ohio particularly is subject to inclement weather, salt damage and heavy vehicle traffic. While concrete is a very durable product, like anything else, it is not without flaws. Sometimes the top of the concrete may appear to be popping or flaking off. If it is minimal (a few here and there) it is quite possible that a stone(s) close to the top popped out. This is nothing to worry about however if you are experiencing a lot of popping and flaking off the surface (more than 20%) you have a legitimate problem. SD can repair or replace if a minimum of 20% or more of any given section of the concrete is popped-pitted or if small pieces located on the edge happen to break off. Because your driveway approach is subject to salt overspray from the city/county plow truck, we do not warranty salt or ice melter damage in anyway. We recommend our clients do not throw salt or ice melters on any concrete, especially the first winter,  as they will damage the surface. Salt/ice melter damage and other materials on the market today void concrete warranty. Sand is very common to use on your concrete surfaces, and is recommended for the first year. Another highly corrosive material is fertilizer. Spills or overspray of fertilizer onto your concrete should be washed off immediately.

SD does not warranty any imperfections, defects or damage caused by natural occurrence or accidental occurrence that may happen due to the following; (but is not limited to) wind, leaves, landscaping overflow, water damage, people or animals walking through a fresh pour, vehicles parking on or driving over fresh concrete prior to the full cure time. While we do our best to prevent these things from happening, nature happens. If the surface is damaged due to any of the preceding examples, repair can be attempted, but is not guaranteed and may or may not resolve the issues. If it is determined that the surface damage is over the above 20% surface area and the customer wishes to replace the area, a discounted rate will apply.

DISCOLORATION- Another common misconception is color. It is not possible for us to match the exact color of your concrete sidewalk to your driveway and sometimes even your driveway may not match exactly since most driveways need two or more loads of concrete. This is especially true if concrete deliveries are made on different days. Most color variations are minor and mostly will fade over time, but if they do occur, it is a good thing to keep in mind that if you have one or two squares of driveway that are popped or pitted and we replace them, discoloration from the old concrete to the new concrete may be noticeable.

TEXTURE- It is possible that your neighbor's concrete appears to have a different texture or finish. This is very common and is not a cause of concern. A different concrete contractor may not use the same equipment/tools that SD uses to finish the concrete.

If there is damage or defects to the surface of any new concrete and any other contractor other than SD comes out and does work or attempts to repair the surface of the area installed by SD, any and all warranties are void. 

All warranties will be honored for one year after install. 

All estimates are good for 90 days from the date of receipt, or, 1 season if done after October 1st of the same year. 

All estimates are pending review and or can be changed at anytime at the discretion of SD Construction Services, LLC due to changes within the workload, materials or scope of work. Changes made on site will be reviewed and approved prior to moving forward.
